Hezekiah Scott was born in December 1754 at Sunderland, Franklin County, Massachusetts. At the outbreak of the Revolutionary War in 1775, he resided in Swansey, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. By 1776, Hezekiah had moved to Bennington, Bennington County, Vermont. On July 21, 1777 he enlisted in Captain John Warner's Company of Green Mountain Rangers, where he served until he was mustered out December 3, 1777. On March 1, 1778, Hezekiah married Mary Newell in Bennington. Immediately after they married, Hezekiah and Mary moved to Rupert, Bennington County, Vermont. They had 2 children: a child who only lived a few days after birth in 1779 and a daughter Abigail born on August 18, 1786. Hezekiah returned to Swansey, Cheshire County, New Hampshire in 1792. He resided there until his death on July 5, 1835.
